One of the most confusing decisions to make when you move into a new home or revamp the old one is what flooring to choose. There are so many new flooring options that choosing one straight away might not be easy unless you have it all planned well beforehand. Is carpeted flooring right for me? Or should I opt for hardwood? Maybe Linoleum is better. What is best for kitchen flooring, basement flooring? Different areas of the home need different types of flooring.

Ask Yourself Certain Questions
It is always better if you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your flooring. Are you concentrating more on looks or is durability your prime objective? How much are you willing to spend on the flooring? When you have the answers to these questions you will find that suddenly the decision is much easier to make. It is also good if you have some knowledge about various types of floorings.

Carpets
Carpets and rugs have been around for ages adoring floors and walls. They are attractive and at the same time, offer floor protection. Carpet flooring is a good option but once again there are many variants in them. You can choose from varying levels of thickness for your carpet. But you have to understand that not all carpet floorings are easy to clean and maintain. You may also need to think seriously about carpet protection. Some people also use plastic carpet protections or use a cover to protect their new carpet. This is however temporary carpet protection. There are many things that may harm your carpet protection. Construction is one of them.

Linoleum Flooring
Linoleum is an environment friendly floor covering. The primary ingredient in linoleum is linseed oil. They are extremely durable and come in a huge range of colors. They are as durable as you can get.

Tile Flooring
When it comes to tiles, you have thousands of options to choose from. From Vinyl Tiles, Ceramic tiles and slate tiles you can decorate your home beyond the wildest of your imaginations. So be it the pool side, the bathroom or the kitchen, tiles have a tendency to blend everywhere.

Rubber Flooring
Rubber sheets or tiles are best for areas like the loft. However, it is not uncommon to use it in other areas as well.

Cork Flooring
Now this is something new. Cork is the perfect insulator. It insulates your home leading to cooler summers and warmer winters. It also absorbs sound. What more, do not think of the bulletin board material as your flooring. Cork is available in several attractive colors and patterns.
